Every year, Empower Australia partners with local charities in the community to provide gifts to children at Christmas, that otherwise would go without. The children that we provide gifts to may have a parent in jail, affected by homelessness, escaping domestic violence or come from a family that has simply fallen upon tough times. The children that receive the gift will be aged 0-18 years old. Your donation ensures that they will get a gift this Christmas.

In 2020, we donated 5000 gifts.

Our goal in 2021 is to provide over 6000 gifts to children in need this Christmas.

FAQ.

Who is Empower Australia?

Empower Australia is the charitable arm of Planetshakers Church. We are registered with the ACNC (Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission) and hold DGR (Deductible Gift Recipient) Status. Our charity has been in operation for over 10 years and we are proud to support our charity partners through our annual Christmas Appeal. To find out more about us, head to www.empoweraustralia.com.au

How does it work?

Simply "purchase a present" (or multiple) online!

We will then purchase gifts on your behalf with your donation. This year, we will be partnering with Big W to purchase gifts. All gifts will then be delivered to our charity partners to distribute to children in need in the community.

Who are the children receiving the gift?

We provide gifts to children and teenagers aged 0-18 years old who are in vulnerable situations, for example: they have one or both parents in prison; they are affected by homelessness; they are escaping domestic violence situations; or they come from a family that has simply fallen upon tough times.

What gift(s) will be bought with my donation?

These will generally be toys, sports items or board games. However, what is purchased will ultimately depend on stock availability at Big W.

Teenagers aged 14-18 years old are often the most vulnerable group of children and generally neglected in Christmas Appeals. Our charity partners have requested that we give gift cards to teenagers in this age group (instead of toys) - to empower teenagers by giving them a choice in what gift they would like for Christmas (and we all know how difficult it can be to buy a present for a teenager!) Therefore, a portion of donations received will be dedicated to purchasing gift cards for this age group.

How is this plan COVID-Safe?

Gifts will be distributed through partner organisations through contact-free delivery. This year, we have made this online gift option available, so that your donation can be made through a contact-free means.

Can I drop off a physical gift/gifts?

Yes, at any of our Food Relief Centres (details below). If you do opt to donate physical gifts you can do so by dropping the gifts off at one of our Centres. Please ensure that the donated gifts are unwrapped.
